We're Kristin & Rachel Savage. In 2010, we left our city lives and moved to Hickory - a farm with a great surf beach. Fast forward a few years, and here we are, with a family and a few other animals. Living here has taught us to be resourceful; to enjoy being out of cellphone coverage; fire-side cooking- and to relish days without power while we're snowed in. Hickory is the abbreviated interpretation of the traditional Maori name - Waikerikikari, meaning 'The bay of angry waters'. The Maori were right, there's pretty much always surf here.
